Add blank pages to a PDF

Needed more often than it sounds: making a page count even before duplex printing, leaving room for a signature sheet, or separating sections in a bound document.

Blank pages and duplex printing

When a document is printed double sided, each new section that must start on a right hand page needs the previous section to end on an even page count. Printers call the filler a spacer. The last option here inserts a blank after every page, which turns a single sided document into one that prints correctly two up without content on the back of anything.

New pages take the size of the page they follow, so a mixed size document stays sensible rather than getting A4 blanks inserted into a letter sized run.

Common questions

Will the blank page be truly empty?

Yes, no content at all. Some printers will still not put toner on it, which is what you want.

How do I add a blank between pages 3 and 4?

Choose after a specific page and enter 3.
