Merge images into one
Before and after pairs, a passport photo next to a signature, two screenshots in one attachment. Drop them in, set the order, choose a direction.
Result
Matching sizes matters more than the direction
Joining images of different dimensions is where results go wrong. Side by side, they need the same height or the shorter one sits in a band of background. Stacked, they need the same width. Scaling to the largest keeps the most detail and makes the file bigger; scaling to the smallest is tidier and throws detail away. Leaving them alone is only sensible when they are already the same shape.
Nothing is stretched in any mode. Images are scaled proportionally and centred in their slot, so a mismatch shows up as background rather than as a distorted picture.
Common questions
Can I add labels or captions?
Not here. For a labelled before and after, merge first and then add text in an image editor, or use the watermark tool for something simple.
How do I control the order?
Use the up and down buttons in the list. The order shown is the order used, left to right or top to bottom.
