PIL and Pillow reference

PIL stopped in 2011 and carries on as Pillow. Everything here is written for Pillow.

This domain was the home of PythonWare, the company of Fredrik Lundh, who wrote the Python Imaging Library and much else besides. He died in 2021. The material here is newly written for Pillow, the maintained fork of his work. None of his own writing is reproduced without attribution.
