Edit PDF metadata
A PDF usually knows who made it and with what. That is often your full name and your employer's software licence, sitting inside a document you are about to send to a stranger.

Why bother
Document properties are read by search engines when a PDF is published, shown in the title bar of most readers, and used as the filename suggestion by some browsers. A file that announces itself as Microsoft Word - final final v3 REVISED.docx with your personal name attached looks careless on a website and can reveal more than you meant in a tender or a legal exchange.
Setting a real title also helps if the PDF is indexed: it is one of the few places a PDF has anything resembling a page title.
Clearing everything blanks the title, author, subject and keywords and sets the producer to a neutral value. It does not touch the page content, so anything identifying inside the document itself is still there.
Common questions
Does this remove hidden text or tracked changes?
No. It edits the document properties only. Content that was in the pages stays in the pages.
Why can I not change the creation date?
Rewriting timestamps to misrepresent when a document was made is a bad habit and a worse one in anything legal, so the dates are shown but not editable here.
